“For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.” Genesis 18:19.
“And here’s a second offense: You fill the place of worship with your whining and sniveling because you don’t get what you want from God. Do you know why? Simple. Because God was there as a witness when you spoke your marriage vows to your young bride, and now you’ve broken those vows, broken the faith-bond with your vowed companion, your covenant wife. God, not you, made marriage. His Spirit inhabits even the smallest details of marriage. And what does he want from marriage? Children of God, that’s what. So guard the spirit of marriage within you. Don’t cheat on your spouse.” Malachi 2:15 – MSG.
God wants us to raise godly seeds. The order of creation is to replicate its kind. So, if you are a godly person, you should reproduce your kind, and that is – godly seeds. Unfortunately, this is not the reality for many believers today. From Malachi 2:15, we see that raising godly seeds is deliberate, and it doesn’t just happen. First, as godly parents, it is on us to take responsibility to lead our children in the way of the Lord, just like Abraham. We teach our children, show them by example, pray over them always, and see them manifest as God’s battle axes (see Jeremiah 51:20).

But if you prefer to read, let’s get deep into the post.
The Bible says the enemy prowls around seeking who to devour. The devil tries his best to corrupt God’s work in our lives, including the work God is doing in our children. Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. 2 Corinthians 2:14.
God has a plan for our children. Scriptures say in Psalms 127: 4&5, “Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the gate.” These verses tell us that our children are God’s instruments, which He will use this end time to silence the devil. They are powerful mouthpieces for the gospel and for the things of God. The enemy knows that God has a great plan for each of our children to further the gospel, and that is why the devil works tirelessly to attack our children, attack their minds, attack them emotionally and in every way. The devil desperately tries to distract our children from the place of their calling using tools like media, peer pressure, abuse, neglect, lousy parenting, etc. But as godly parents raising godly seeds, we will give him no place in our families.
We cannot overemphasize the place of prayer in raising godly seeds. Daily, take each one of your children to God in prayer. He gave you the children anyway, children are the heritage of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is His reward. Every good and perfect gift comes from above, from the Father of Lights… God does not give bad gifts, including children (see Matthew 7:9-11). So, prayer is all too important in keeping and preserving the destinies of our children.
There is this rebellious spirit that tries to take hold of our teens and young adults; it tries to make them act out of God’s will for them. We have to pray to break the grip of the spirit of rejection and rebellion on our children and bind the operations of the devil over their lives. We stay on in this prayer and consistently keep praying until we see them grow into the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, and even then, we don’t stop praying. Isaiah 49:25 says, “But thus says the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contends with you, and I will save your children.” – this is God’s promise to us. There’s contention from hell over our children’s lives, destinies, futures, and purpose on earth. God has assured us that He will contend with those that contend with our children, and He will save them. Hallelujah!
Bring these scriptures to the presence of God, lay them before Him, speak God’s promises over your children, and they will come to pass. Parents often tend to give up before they see any results. We say, “but I’ve prayed and prayed, and nothing seems to be happening.” Scriptures tell us that we have need of patience, that after we have done the Will of God, we may receive the promise. We need patience and perseverance in the place of prayer to see that our children and their destinies are saved.
We have to never relent in praying for our children. If we understand the value of their destinies and who God has ordained them to be on earth, we would realize that it’s worth the perseverance and the patience to keep praying for them till we get the results.
Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…”
Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”
Romans 10:13 says, “For ‘everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.'”
Philippians 2:10 says, “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;”
These verses tell us that everything responds to the Name and the Blood of Jesus. Daily call upon the name of the Lord over your children and teach them to use the Name of Jesus as a strong tower they can run to for safety and security. Plead the Blood of Jesus over them daily to reinforce the finished work of Christ on the cross and to emerge victorious over the works of the devil.
If your child is walking out of God’s Will for him, the battle for his life and destiny can be won on the knees. Persevere in the place of prayer, trusting that He who has begun a good work in our children will complete it. Use the Blood of Jesus to break the hold of the spirit of rebellion over their lives. And if your children are well-behaved, you still have to pray for them so the spirit of rebellion will not have a hold over them and continuously plead the Blood of Jesus over them.
James 1: 6&7 says, “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.”
Mark 11:24 says, “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
Without Faith, it’s impossible to get anything we ask from God. Let us learn to use our tongues wisely. You don’t pray over a child and then speak negative words to that child because he misbehaved. Neither do we use his current situation to address him. No matter what your child does, see him through the eyes of God, see by faith where God is taking him to, and speak to his future by the Word of God. Faith is a major player in securing the destinies of these children.
I pray God gives us the strength to be godly parents to our children and other kids that God may bring our way. I pray that God gives us the grace to lead our children in the way of the Lord and into the full realization of their glorious destinies in Christ Jesus.
I hope these points become the answer to that prayer of what to do in keeping your children in line and helping them build a relationship with God.
See you in the next post. Thanks for stopping by. God bless you.
