Coronavirus virus, fast becoming a global spread with little to no solution found (as of the time of writing), and with the enforced quarantine measures in place, it is natural for fear to set into people’s hearts. Especially when it seems all effort to contain the spread is abortive by the staggering number of deaths.
If you prefer to watch a video on how to handle the rising fear in these times, here is one for you.
But if you prefer to read the post, let’s get right into it.
Ways to handle fear in the time of a pandemic
I’m writing about knowledge in two ways:
In times of a pandemic or an epidemic, with no visible cure in sight, understanding who you are in Christ Jesus is your number one security. The Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. When you speak God’s Word to any situation, you usher in the life of God into that situation because “the Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are Spirit and life.” John 6:63. God’s Word brings life into any dead situation. Hear the Word of the Lord in John 5:25, “Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.” God restores light, hope, and gives understanding where there is darkness by His Word. Understanding who you are and where Christ has placed you by redemption, putting the Word of God in your mouth, believing, meditating, and confessing the Word is your preservation in these times.
Educate yourself on what the Coronavirus is and how viruses are prevented and treated—research on what was used in ancient civilization to prevent and cure sicknesses and diseases. Look up natural alternatives to preventing various illnesses.
I found an alternative to taking drugs some time ago before the Coronavirus. I found the Colloidal Silver – talked about how I found it and what led to me looking for alternatives to chemical drugs here. When the Coronavirus pandemic set in, I knew I had something I could use in preventing the virus from getting to my family or me. If I was to ever come in contact with the virus, I knew I was safe as colloidal silver kills viruses.
Being equipped with the Word of Life and this kind of knowledge kept my heart at peace. 2Peter 1:2 says, “May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.” NLT. This verse tells us that peace multiplies to you by knowledge. It’s essential to be at peace in times like this, where there is so much uncertainty. Remember that fear kills faster than the virus itself.
You may be wondering, what does Love have to do with this situation? Well, from the Word of God, we see that Love has everything to do with these times.
First, God is Love (see 1 John 4:8).
1 John 4:16 says, “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.” That is, if we walk in love, we abide in God and God in us.
Colossians 3:3 says, “…your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
From these verses of Scripture, we see that when we abide in love, we enjoy God’s security, the highest provision of security that ever is.
Next, we see that everything in the Kingdom of God, including Faith, works by Love. In Galatians 5:6, the Bible says, “For in Jesus Christ, neither circumcision avails anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which works by love.” It means faith does not produce except by Love. The opposite of fear is faith, and in these times, we need all the faith we can get and all the peace we can get.
How do I build my Faith? By seeking out and meditating on the Word of God. “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17.
How can Faith produce for me? By walking in Love – loving God and His people.
How do I walk in Love? Demonstrating God’s love practically to others around you. Jesus said, “…whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40. We show love when we pray for those that are infected or those who are prone to the infection, like health workers. We also walk in love when we play our parts in curbing the spread of the virus and looking out for our neighbors. Since the virus is carried from place to place and nation to nation worldwide, I think our love walk involves finding time to pray for the nations of the earth and pray for a speedy end to the epidemic.
When you walk in Love, protection is sure because God is Love. At the point of walking in Love, you become like God, and whatever cannot afflict or oppress God cannot oppress you. Can you imagine God being distressed about any situation? You express your divine nature by walking in love – this is the surest protection for you and your family from this noisome pestilence.
I hope this post has encouraged your faith, eliminated fear, and shown you the way forward in preserving yourself, your family, and everyone around you.
